The 31-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon and Everton have been trying to shift him off the books.

Bolasie could not find a club outside England to take him before the international transfer window, but a mad scramble for his signature has ensued on the last day of the domestic transfer window.

Middlesbrough have held talks with the winger over signing him today, but several Championship clubs are now in contention sign him.

Everton have been contacted by Blackburn, Millwall, who have spoken to Toffees officials, while Derby are also keen.

The Championship outfits are prepared to put in a bid to sign him on loan from Everton in the final hours of the transfer window.

Boro remain interested but are now facing serious competition with multiple Championship clubs keen on getting their hands on Bolasie.

Everton are more than keen to move him on as he is not part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at Goodison Park.

It remains to be seen whether any of the clubs manage to work out agreements with Everton and the player in time to get a deal over the line.
