The Serie A giants are in Glasgow for the start of their Europa League campaign and will face Celtic later in the day in a marquee European clash.

AC Milan are coming into the game on the back of a derby win over Inter and Celtic are trying to erase the memories of a defeat to Rangers at Parkhead last Saturday.

Donati, who also played for the Bhoys, insisted that an empty Parkhead will work in AC Milan’s favour as Celtic often depend on the home crowd to punch above their weight in Europe but this season it is not a factor.

“Many times Celtic bridge the gap with a packed crowd as Celtic Park provides something more”, the former midfielder told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

“And without the crowd, Milan will have an advantage.”

Donati also added that going as far as possible in the Europa League is not the priority Celtic this season as their eyes are set on winning a historic tenth consecutive league title in Scotland.

“It must be said that the objective of Lennon’s team is not the Europa League, but the league.

“This year there is the possibility of hitting a historic ten-in-a-row, which is to win the Scottish Premiership for the tenth consecutive year, which has never happened.

“Of course, in Europe, they will want to make a good impression but after the derbies played by both teams, Milan can take advantage of it.”

Celtic will though be desperate to avoid back to back defeats this evening.
