The 20-year-old Frenchman has begun the 2020/21 season as the newly promoted Premier League side’s first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Kiko Casilla.

Although he has managed to keep just one clean sheet so far, Meslier has helped the Whites, who sit tenth in the table, to two wins and one draw.

Reflecting on his performances so far, the goalkeeper has expressed his satisfaction at how he has started life in the top flight, but sees room for improvement.

Meslier also stressed the importance and difficulty of being consistent throughout the 38 games in the campaign, which he is hopeful of doing.

I need to up my [performance] level, with the team and my team-mates“, Meslier told LUTV.

For now, it is OK, but the championship is 38 games.

So, I need to perform in 38 games and not just [first few games].

I have started well, but I know the most difficult [part] is to perform game after game.

This is the big level, the high level.

Having started as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, Meslier will be hopeful of keeping Casilla on the bench for an extended period of time and helping Leeds to a successful top flight season.
