The Toffees are set to be without Colombian superstar Rodriguez, winger Richarlison and skipper Seamus Coleman for their Premier League visit to Southampton on Sunday.

In the absence of the talismanic midfielder and the Brazilian, Ancelotti will have to rely up on his support cast to field a starting eleven.

The Italian hinted that Iwobi might get the nod to start at St. Mary’s on Sunday with the Nigerian now tipped to potentially earn his first start in the Premier League this season having come off the bench four times for the Toffees.

Ancelotti also revealed that Bernard along with Everton academy starlet Gordon are also in contention to earn a spot in the starting line-up.

“We are working this week on this [putting in other players who have the desire to play] and I think we are going to choose a good line-up for the game against Southampton”, Ancelotti told Everton TV.

“Alex is a player who works hard. He is fast and with his quality he can help the team be better in certain situations.

“He [potentially] has an opportunity to play, but also we have Bernard and Anthony Gordon.

“We have a lot of opportunities to replace Richarlison and James.

“We are already moving on.”

With Coleman sidelined, Ancelotti could also turn to right-back Jonjoe Kenny, who recovered from an ankle problem to re-join training on Tuesday, in Everton’s upcoming clash on the south coast.
