The Toffees have hit a rough patch of results lately, with one win in their last five Premier League games, while losing the other four.

Following their home loss to Leeds United last weekend, Everton have dropped down to eighth in the league standings and will look to bounce back when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley.

Ball has issued a warning to the Merseyside giants that they need to put defenders in the right positions on the pitch, as he feels it is an area in the Toffees’ game that the Clarets could exploit in their upcoming encounter.

The 41-year-old went on to stress that more Everton stars need to take responsibility and add to the creative output of the Goodison Park side as they have a lot of room to improve when attacking in his opinion.

Ball wrote in his Liverpool Echo column: “With Burnley again there should be any surprises, we know what we’re up against.

“They’ll play to the last minute, they’ll try to isolate our weaknesses.

“If we haven’t got defenders in the right position, that’s an area for them to exploit.

“They’re honest guys who will work hard, but we’ve got to concentrate on ourselves.

“The positive is we did create chances against Leeds, but were they really good quality ones?

“We need to start breaking sides down more

“We’ve got Richarlison and James Rodriguez who are dangerous players to create chances, but where are the rest of the players?

“Going forward, I think there’s a lot more we can add to our game.”

Burnley come into the weekend’s clash after being thrashed 5-0 by Manchester City in their last league outing and Everton will be keen to add pile misery on their hosts with a win.
