The Belgian side’s European dreams hang in the balance with nothing less than a win being enough to keep their hopes of progress to the next round alive.

However, Montanier is aware of the scale of the challenge facing his Standard Liege side as he knows that Rangers have been in superb form this season.

He feels that his side need to make sure they produce top performances across the Ibrox pitch, while being clinical in both boxes as they look for victory to keep their Europa League qualification hopes alive.

“Rangers have been flawless since the start of the season”, Montanier said at a press conference.

“It will take a big game from us in all the areas of the pitch to beat them.

“We will have to defend well but also be able to score.”

Rangers have won five of their last seven games against Belgian sides and have won all three encounters on home turf; they will start as favourites to grab another win this evening.
