Ajer’s performances have dropped off this season and he has been part of a Celtic defence who have struggled throughout the current campaign.

The defender has been lambasted for his performances and many have cited his desire to leave Celtic as part of the reason why he has not been playing well.

AC Milan were interested in signing the centre-back last summer but Celtic were in no mood to let the player go ahead of a monumental season.

Ajer was keen on the move and did actively try to leave Celtic but it has been claimed that he was not against the idea of spending one more season in Scotland.

The Norwegian is content to spend one more year at Celtic before trying to leave the club again next summer.

Neil Lennon called out some of the players who wanted to leave publicly following Celtic’s failure to qualify for the Champions League group stage earlier in the season.

There were suggestions Ajer was one of the players the Celtic manager was indicating towards on that day.
