The Glasgow giants booked their place in the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday night when they beat Standard Liege 3-2 at Ibrox.

If Rangers manage to match Benfica’s result next Thursday they will go into the next stage of the competition as group winners, which could mean an easier draw.

The Gers are flying in the league as well and while they have played two games more than Celtic, they now have an eleven-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

Gerrard believes that there is more to come from his Rangers team as they further grew in stature in Europe this season.

But the Rangers boss admits that keeping his players fresh and fit to play will be key over the next two months as they approach a busy period of the campaign.

The Rangers manager said in a press conference: “This group has improved immensely from the European journey we have had.

“I still think there is more to come.

“And the challenge for me is to keep the squad healthy and offload players when required as the schedule is about to get more challenging over the next six to eight weeks.”

Rangers will travel to the Dingwall on Sunday to take on Ross County in a Scottish Premiership game.
