Ivan Cavaleiro scored in the 74th minute to cancel out Harry Kane’s first-half strike to earn a point for Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tottenham now have just one win in their last seven league games and have dropped ten points from winning positions in the Premier League this season.

Hoddle has found a problem with Tottenham’s approach in games where they are 1-0 ahead and feels the players start playing more within themselves and do not display the freedom they normally would when the scores are level.

He insisted that Fulham deserved to get the point and their goal had been coming for some time in the second half.

However, the former Spurs boss conceded that he has been left confounded by Tottenham’s tactics and approach after the break.

Hoddle said on Premier League TV after the match: “So many times at 1-0, they are not taking teams to the cleaners. They are not playing with any freedom at that moment.

“Yes, when it’s 0-0 or 1-1, then it opens up again and they go for it.

“You get the sense that the players are playing a little bit more on the front foot, a bit sharper, quicker and bodies getting forward.

“I am scratching my head. Fulham deserved to come back, you just sensed that they are going to score when they did.

“They had three or four good attacks just before and I am sitting here thinking, Spurs you have got to get a hold of the ball again if you are going to win this game.

“They had to go and attack a little bit more to get that second goal and they are not doing it at the moment.”

Tottenham’s failure to win kept them outside the top four and they remain sixth in the league table.
