Mourinho’s Spurs side dropped more points on Wednesday night when they only managed a draw against Fulham at home.

Tottenham have won just one of their last seven Premier League games and have already dropped ten points from winning positions in the league this season.

Harry Kane came out and blamed the players for falling into the trap of trying to defend the lead against Fulham, but Owen feels a lot of it has to do with what Mourinho is doing on the touchline.

The former striker stressed that Mourinho’s substitutions are sending the wrong kind of signals to his players and that is playing on the minds of the players who are on the pitch.

Owen said on Premier League TV post match: “All the time, Jose Mourinho will go 1-0 up, he will bring his attacking midfielder off and he will put another sitting midfielder on.

“And if you keep doing that it just sends a subliminal message to the players that right we are defending and we are not thinking of going and scoring the second goal.

“And that seed plants in your mind time after time after time and so I think they have got to free themselves of that and once in a while go and put a centre forward on.”

Tottenham will be on the road this weekend when they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
