Fulham boss Scott Parker has been open about adding more goals to his squad this month as he looks to bolster his side’s chances of survival in the Premier League this season.

The Cottagers have one recognised striker in their squad in Aleksandar Mitrovic and the Serbian international has not played in every game in the Premier League.

There are suggestions that Fulham are considering making a move for Newcastle’s 31-year-old striker Gayle, however he is not a target for the club.

Gayle has interest from the Championship and the Middle East and it is claimed that he is open to the idea of a move abroad.

A switch to the Middle East could tempt Gayle to quit English football, but it is unclear which clubs from the region are chasing him.

Steve Bruce has pushed Newcastle to offer Gayle a new deal but so far the Magpies have shown little enthusiasm to put fresh terms in front of the 31-year-old.

The Newcastle boss is likely to gamble on keeping him until the end of the season at least as back up to Callum Wilson.
