Manchester United are going to Anfield as the Premier League leaders after their win at Burnley allowed them to leapfrog Liverpool in the standings.

A win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Liverpool would take them six points clear of last season’s champions, but a win for the Reds would take them back to the top of the league table.

However, Klopp insisted that his side are not thinking about all the implications and stressed that beating Manchester United at Anfield is important in itself without all the drama surrounding the game.

He believes it is too early in the season to think about the implications of the result on Sunday and claimed that Liverpool are only focusing on being at their best against a good Manchester United side this weekend.

Klopp said in a press conference: “Winning against United is enough in itself.

“It is not necessary to have special add-ons. We are playing at home against United and we want to win.

“That’s all we need to think about, there is no extra add-on in that because they are in the situation they are.

“They have deserved the points, we have ours, but the season is still a long way to go so there is not really in it where we constantly talk about if we win we are ahead of them again.

“Manchester City are one game behind and they are playing well so we are constantly thinking about other things.

“We don’t do that.

“We just need to win our football game and for that we need to perform at our highest level because United are good and always were.

“And that’s it.”

Liverpool have not lost a home league game at Anfield since April 2017, but Manchester United will be hopeful of changing that on Sunday.
