Sarr was heavily linked with a move away from Watford last summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

Liverpool held talks with Watford over signing Sarr and Manchester United were also interested,“ but they were both put off by the club’s asking price.

Watford want £50m from his departure and for the moment it seems unlikely any club will try to sign him in January as well.

West Ham have been linked with a move for him and it has been claimed that their interest in Sarr is genuine.

David Moyes remains keen on adding more attacking talent to his squad and Sarr is one of the players the Hammers are monitoring.

But their priorities this month lie elsewhere and West Ham are likely to focus on bringing in a replacement for Sebastien Haller who joined Ajax last week.

The Hammers are interested in signing Reims striker Boulaye Dia in the ongoing transfer window.

They are also believed to be considering a move for Bournemouth’s Josh King and it remains to be seen if they might change course and go for Sarr.
