Edmundson joined Championship club Derby from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers on loan until the end of the season in the winter transfer window.

The central defender started his second game for the Rams against Huddersfield on Tuesday and marked the occasion by netting the opener, helping the side win 2-0.

Derby midfielder Bird was delighted to see Edmundson find the back of the net and has explained that it was brilliant for him to get his name on the scoresheet from a set piece.

Bird went on to point out how Rams first team coach Shay Given has been working with the squad to improve their set pieces and is glad that they scored one through Edmundson on Tuesday.

It was brilliant for George Edmundson to get on the scoresheet“, Bird told RamsTV.

We have been working on the set pieces and Shay Given has been hammering it into us how important they were.

We have been working hard on the training ground so it was good to get one from that.

Edmundson has made three Championship appearances for Derby so far and will be looking to earn more games under his belt before the season comes to an end.
