Manchester United’s big win in Turin last week more or less made sure that they will be playing in the last 16 of the Europa League even before the second leg is played at Old Trafford.

Real Sociedad have wounds to heal at Old Trafford when they take on Manchester United on Thursday night and will be looking to provide a better account of themselves even if they have little to no chance of progress in the competition.

Alguacil stressed that his side’s goal is to make sure that they show that they are not as far from Manchester United as the 4-0 scoreline suggested in the first leg.

“In Turin, it was seen that we are still far away from the level of United”, he was quoted as saying by Madrid-based Spanish daily Marca.

“But I don’t think the difference is as much as it felt after we left the Turin game.”

The Real Sociedad boss is certain that Manchester United will not relent in the second leg and will look to go for another big win in the second leg as well.

“I have no doubts that they will go out for a win again, and if possible by another landslide scoreline because every game is important for such a big club.

“As they are for us too.”
