After a tricky start to the season, Morelos has hit form at the right time for Rangers and he scored a late winner against Livingston on Sunday.

He has scored in the last two league games for Rangers, while he also netted once and registered three assists against Antwerp in the Europa League last 32 second leg.

Gerrard insisted that he always knew that Morelos would get back to scoring goals and performing for Rangers as, despite his patchy form earlier in the season, he remains a class performer.

The Rangers boss also hailed the quality of his entire squad and stressed that his team are not dependent on any particular individual.

Gerrard said in a press conference: “With every player form is temporary but class is permanent.

“We knew with Alfredo it was only a matter of time before the goals returned.

“His contribution of late has been great.

“The quality of the full squad has been great and we are not reliant on any individual.”

Morelos has scored 14 times in 34 appearances for Rangers across all competitions this season.
