Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is keen on bolstering the centre-back position in his team in the summer with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all entering the final year of their respective contracts in the summer.

Chelsea are yet to trigger a one-season extension in veteran centre-back Thiago Silva’s contract and are on the lookout for fresh talents to add to that position when the transfer window swings open.

The capital club have zeroed in on Bayern Munich’s Sule as a top target and have stepped up their interest in him.

Sule has just over 12 months left on his current deal at the Allianz Arena and is yet to begin contract negotiations to potentially renew his stint and thus his future at the club is under the scanner at the moment.

Tuchel is a firm admirer of the 25-year-old and Chelsea have pressed the accelerator on their interest in him, with a transfer fee in the region of £30m mooted.

Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez and Sevilla starlet Jules Kounde, but both defenders could prove to be expensive deals for any potential suitors owing to the huge release clauses in their respective contracts.

And Sule is tipped to be the most viable option on Chelsea’s radar and is top of their summer transfer wishlist at the moment.
