A Sadio Mane goal in the first half gave Liverpool the lead in the Premier League encounter, but Leeds dominated the game after the break and missed a number of good opportunities to score.

But the breakthrough finally came in the 87th minute when Diego Llorente scored from a header to earn a point for the home side at Elland Road.

McAteer conceded that it was all Leeds in the second half and admitted that the scoreline could have been embarrassing for Liverpool if not for Alisson’s heroics in goal.

He admitted that Liverpool got away with it by escaping Elland Road with a point after that poor second-half performance.

The former Red said on LFC TV after the game: “Second half clearly, it was all Leeds.

“To be honest, if it wasn’t for Alisson it could have been an embarrassing night.

“Four or five times he went on to make big saves and plus Bamford hit the bar.

“You probably feel, we got out of the dodge with a point at the end.”

Liverpool remain sixth in the Premier League table and are still two points behind the top four spots. 0:39
