Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled for game time under Jurgen Klopp in the season gone by with just two Premier League starts to his name and has been linked with an exit from Anfield in the ongoing window.

Liverpool’s top flight rivals Leicester and West Ham have been credited with interest in acquiring his services, with both clubs looking forward to Europa League campaigns next term.

Reds legend Barnes is of the view that if Oxlade-Chamberlain parts ways with Liverpool this summer, he would be better off joining Leicester over the Hammers as they have been more consistent in sealing a top seven finish in the league in recent seasons.

However, Barnes added that if the midfielder prefers a move to the London Stadium, it could also turn out to be a good switch for him.

“I think Leicester or West Ham”, Barnes, asked which would be the better move, told BettingOdds.com.

“Leicester would probably be a bit better suited because they’re more stable than West Ham as they know that they will be in the top seven most seasons, which isn’t the case for West Ham.

“However, if he wanted to go back down south then I think West Ham would be a good move for Alex too.”

It remains to be seen what kind of a role Oxlade-Chamberlain will play for Liverpool next season following Georginio Wijnaldum’s exit or whether the club will let him go.
