The north London giants bolstered their goalkeeping department with the addition of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United in the summer.

Ramsdale, who was named on the bench against Manchester City and Chelsea, replaced Leno in goal for Arsenal’s match against Norwich City last weekend.

The 23-year-old helped Arsenal register their first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign against the Canaries, raising concerns over Leno’s status as the number 1.

Leno, though, has no need to worry about his position in the pecking order as Arsenal boss Arteta has, in fact, given the German goalkeeper a break

It has emerged that Arteta has handed the 29-year-old a break from the starting line-up, but has promised to bring him back for Arsenal’s clash with Tottenham towards the end of the month.

The north London giants play Burnley in the Premier League and AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup before hosting Spurs on 26th September.

With Leno handed a break until then, Ramsdale could be in line to start for Arsenal in their forthcoming matches against Burnley and Wimbledon.
