Marcelo Bielsa takes his Leeds side to the capital this evening to lock horns with Championship side Fulham in the EFL Cup.

The Argentine has been expected to shuffle his pack to hand opportunities to fringe players but, the club have confirmed, Bamford and Ayling will miss out not due to Bielsa’s selection, but due to injury.

Defender Ayling and striker Bamford both picked up injuries in Leeds’ Premier League draw against Newcastle United on Friday evening.

Hitman Bamford is suffering from an ankle injury, while Ayling has a problem with his knee.

Leeds said in a statement: “Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling will both miss tonight’s Carabao Cup game with Fulham following injuries picked up in Friday night’s match against Newcastle United.”

The Whites have not yet managed to register a win in the Premier League this season and may view the Fulham clash as an opportunity to build confidence.

They are due to take on West Ham United at the weekend, welcoming David Moyes’ men to Elland Road.
