O’Brien emerged as a target for Leeds in the summer when the Whites failed to secure other midfield targets during the transfer window.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Leeds believed they could get a deal done for a knockdown fee but the Terriers held their ground.

Huddersfield never backed down from their asking price and payment structure, and Leeds eventually walked away from their interest in O’Brien.

And it has been claimed that the midfielder is now on the verge of signing a new contract with the club.

An agreement is in place between the player and Huddersfield and he will sign on the dotted line.

O’Brien has agreed on a three-year contract with the club and is set to commit his future to Huddersfield soon.

A new contract will strengthen Huddersfield’s position in the event Leeds come back in with another bid for the midfielder.
