Saliba is currently plying his trade at Ligue 1 giants Marseille on a season-long loan as Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta did not see him playing a key role under him this season.

Having joined the Gunners in the summer of 2019, the Frenchman is yet to make a competitive appearance for the club, but is a key player at his current club.

Saliba has played every minute of football for Les Phoceens in Ligue 1 so far this season, helping them put together an unbeaten streak.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Marseille’s hierarchy are impressed with what they have been seeing from the Arsenal loanee.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye with a string of strong performances for Marseille and the club’s leaders appreciate the composure and maturity he is showing on the pitch.

Saliba is due back at Arsenal next summer and Marseille have not secured an option to buy him in his current deal.

It remains to be seen whether the French giants will look to sit at the negotiating table with Arsenal over a permanent move for Saliba in the future.
