The Colombia international scored for Steven Gerrard’s side on Wednesday as they earned a point against Aberdeen despite being 2-0 down just 16 minutes into the match.

Morelos, who was subject to criticism for his recent goalscoring form, has scored three goals from four league matches this month, but former Rangers star McCann wants to see more from him.

McCann acknowledged that Morelos has scored 101 goals for the Scottish Premiership champions, but insisted that he should be doing for more the team.

The Scot urged Morelos to be the most horrible player to play against when he is on the pitch before stressing the need for Rangers to have their best players firing on all cylinders when they are not at their best.

I keep on going to him because he has scored 101 goals now for the club and it might sound stupid, but you need more than that“, McCann said on Rangers TV after the match.

If you are at Rangers, you should be banging in 20 goals, 25 goals a year because of the chances they make.

If you are playing with one guy up top predominantly, he needs to be the most horrible guy to play against.

He must be the link man, he must be prepared to hold it up, he must be prepared to be a goal threat, he must be prepared to sacrifice himself out of possession as well.

I don’t think we’re getting it from him and I’m not just saying it is Morelos tonight [Wednesday; ed.], I’m not because there are lots of players I think played under par.

But, when things are happening, you need your top men absolutely at the top of their game and I don’t think there is enough him from just now.

Morelos has scored seven goals and provided two assists from 18 matches across all competitions so far for Rangers this season.
