Howe was appointed as the Newcastle manager earlier this week and he took charge of training during the international break.

But ahead of facing Brentford at St. James’ Park last weekend, it emerged that Howe would not be in the dugout after testing positive for Covid.

His assistant Jason Tindall took charge of proceedings as the Magpies played out a 3-3 draw at home.

There were suggestions that Howe might not be in charge when they travel to Arsenal but that is not going to be the case.

The Newcastle manager has returned a negative Covid test ahead of the two sides facing on Saturday.

Howe is now clear to take charge of the team from the dugout when Newcastle visit the north London club.

It remains to be seen whether he can inspire Newcastle to their first win in the league this season on Saturday.
