Roberts has been a bit part player under Marcelo Bielsa this season but was handed a second start in a row for the first time this season against Brentford on Sunday.

The Welshman has been on the receiving end of criticism from some sections of fans as he has struggled to make an impact on the pitch whenever he is called into action, but finally managed to score his first league goal for the club this season in the 2-2 draw against the Bees.

Ex-Whites star Dorigo is delighted at seeing Roberts getting on the scoresheet and stressed he has looked sharp in recent outings.

However, Dorigo stressed the need for rest of the squad to chip in with more goals as Leeds are heavily reliant on Patrick Bamford and Raphinha to provide the goods up front.

“It was also great to see Tyler Roberts finally get himself on the scoresheet”, Dorigo wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

“He looked sharp and has done for the last couple of games.

“There was plenty of good work from him in dangerous areas and that’s what you need if you’re in the No 9 or No 10 position.

“Other players in the squad though do, I feel, need to chip in with some goals and that’s across the team and not aimed at one individual.

“Bamford being back was a huge boost but we have been very reliant on him and Raphinha to provide that finishing touch in the final third.”

Leeds are gearing up for a tough test at the weekend when they take on title contenders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
