Barkas arrived at Celtic Park from Greek side AEK Athens in the summer of 2020, but has struggled to fit in at the Scottish giants, barely earning any game time.

The shot-stopper has only two appearances to his name under Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou so far this season, with summer signing Joe Hart being the first choice and Scott Bain being his deputy, while Conor Hazard was the other option.

However, Hazard has now left Parkhead on loan to join HJK Helsinki, which has seen Barkas becoming the third choice shot-stopper at the club.

But the 27-year-old has little chance of playing under Postecoglou and is looking to leave the club.

And Barkas’ agents are checking the market to find a suitable destination for him.

But the shot-stopper’s entourage are yet to make any progress in identifying a club that want to sign their client.

It remains to be seen whether Barkas will find a new club this month, with less than two weeks left in the ongoing window.
