Lingard will be out of contract at the end of the season and has so far declined to sign a new deal with the Red Devils, with the expectation being he is on his way out of Old Trafford.

As things stand, the midfielder will be able to leave on a free transfer in the summer but clubs have been trying to sign him this month as well.

Newcastle are working on a deal to sign him on loan from the Old Trafford outfit and are prepared to pay his wages for the rest of his Manchester United contract.

West Ham are also alive to Lingard’s situation and it has been suggested he would prefer a return to the Hammers.

However, Manchester United are still trying to talk to Lingard in the hope of getting him to sign a new contract.

Lingard wants to play more football and he has had very few opportunities at Old Trafford this season.

Manchester United have rejected approaches from West Ham and Tottenham this month as they are wary of losing him to a major top-four rival in the middle of the season.

Newcastle are now in for him and are pushing to take him to St. James’ Park at least until the end of the season.
