The Toffees are on the lookout for a new manager having shown Rafael Benitez the exit door on Sunday owing to poor run of results in the Premier League.

 

Everton are running the rule over a number of names on their shortlist of managerial candidates and the club’s hierarchy are also conducting interviews as they look for a new man to lead the club

 

 

The Merseyside giants have handed Ferguson the temporary reins of the club on an interim basis, but he is under consideration to fill the Goodison Park hot seat on a permanent basis.

 

And Everton have sounded out their former midfielder Carsley about the possibility of taking on a role alongside Ferguson, if he takes over at the club on a permanent basis.

 

 

Carsley is highly-rated a coach in the English football scene and is currently managing England Under-21s.

 

Ferguson is warm to the idea of managing Everton for at least the remainder of the season and he is currently assisted by ex-Toffees full-back Leighton Baines.

 

 

The 50-year-old’s first test in his second spell as caretaker boss at Everton will come in the shape of Aston Villa, who are set to visit Goodison Park at the weekend in a league clash.
