Everton are going into Saturday’s game just one point above the relegation zone and on the back of a defeat to relegation rivals Burnley this week.

Lampard has lost six of the seven league games since taking charge of Everton at the end of January and could be staring at relegation given their current form.

Everton have struggled to get over the line in many games and conceded a late winner against Burnley after going into half-time leading the game.

Ashton feels Everton are an example of a side who are not mentally or tactically prepared to cope with adversity at the moment and their fragility is taking them down.

He insisted that Manchester United will comfortably beat Everton on Saturday if they take the lead especially because the atmosphere inside Goodison Park could turn toxic as well.

The former striker said on talkSPORT’s GameDay Podcast: “It’s a great example of a team when they do concede, panic sets in and they haven’t got the confidence or the organisation to cope.

“I think it’s going to be similar, it might be tight, but if Manchester United get any sort of a foothold in the game and they score, I think they will probably win the game comfortably.

“The atmosphere is not going to be great if Manchester United could score first, which isn’t a given considering their form.

“I think this is a game that Manchester United could win comfortably.”

Everton managed to get a point when they visited Old Trafford to take on Manchester United earlier in the season, when Rafael Benitez was in charge.
