Conte has managed to keep Tottenham in the fray for a top-four finish going into the last two games of the season and the north London club have looked a more resolute bunch under the Italian.

If Arsenal slip up in any of their last two games and Spurs win on the final day of the season, the white side of north London will be singing the Champions League anthem next season.

There is a feeling that Conte has managed to instil his personality into the squad and Lawrenson claimed that he has been told that despite the Italian being a tough task-master all the Spurs stars like him.

However, he admitted that the problems could arise if Tottenham do not back the Italian with considerable funds in the market over the summer.

Lawrenson told Off The Ball: “I’m told the players really, really like Conte and there doesn’t seem to be anybody who doesn’t believe in him.

“The problem is going to be what the chief executive is going to give Conte in terms of money to buy players and bring them in.

“That is always the thing at Tottenham.”

Conte is claimed to want at least six players in the summer as he seeks to change the make-up of the Tottenham squad next season.
