Gundogan will enter the final year of his contract at Manchester City soon and he has been linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer.
The Germany international is believed to have been told by Manchester City that he can leave the club in the next transfer window.
He was recently spotted at Manchester Airport’s private jet terminal and it was suggested that he could have been heading for talks with Real Madrid.
But it was a private trip to Rome along with his fiancé and had nothing to do with his future.
It was not meant to be a transfer sojourn and no negotiations took place between Gundogan and Real Madrid.
The midfielder will discuss his future with Manchester City but it will only take place over the summer.
His contract situation means there is a good chance that he could leave the Etihad in the next window.
