The Scotsman started the opening 13 Premier League games of the season but after being left out of his side’s draw against Norwich in December, he made just one more Premier League start.

He has a year left on his contract at Newcastle and he is not part of Eddie Howe’s plans going forward.

The club are prepared to sell him and it has been claimed that Newcastle are open to offers for Ritchie.

Howe praised the 32-year-old at the end of the season but that has not changed his long-term future at Newcastle.

The club are looking to bring in a new left-back and Ritchie’s place in the pecking order will fall further next season if he stays at Newcastle.

He has been linked with a move back to Bournemouth, who have earned promotion back to the Premier League.

Several Championship clubs are also interested in getting their hands on the 32-year-old left-back this summer.
