Benfica striker Nunez has emerged as a hot property this summer and is heavily linked with a move to Premier League giants Liverpool.

The Portuguese heavyweights have put an £85m price tag on Nunez’s head and Liverpool are tipped to be ready to make him their record signing, while there have even been claims that they have tabled a mammoth bid for him.

Liverpool star Jota has faced Nunez in the Champions League and he hailed the Benfica star as a good player.

However, Jota admitted he does not have an opinion on whether Nunez would be a good signing for the Reds, and stressed he has no idea how the transfer market will play out this summer.

Asked whether he thinks Nunez would be a good signing for Liverpool, Jota was quoted as saying by Portuguese outlet Noticias Ao Minuto: “I don’t know.

“I’m focused on the national team and I have no idea how the transfer market will play out.

“I can only say that I played against him and he is a good player.”

Jota, a former Primeira Liga player, has managed to adapt and succeed in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will hand Nunez an opportunity to do the same ahead of next season.
