PSG are prepared to offload the 32-year-old midfielder and have been in talks with Everton to send Gueye back to Goodison Park, where they landed him from in 2019.

A move has appeared to be well on the way to happening, with Gueye even rejecting an approach from Nottingham Forest.

However, all may not be going smoothly as, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Gueye is thinking hard about whether he wants to return to Everton.

He is reluctant to give the green light to the switch and as such the transfer has stalled.

Gueye is aware that PSG would like to shift him off the books, but he is determined to make sure his next move, if he does leave the Parc des Princes, is the right one.

The midfielder also knows that the transfer window is open until 1st September and he could have other options on the table.

Everton have just signed one midfielder in the shape of Amadou Onana and it remains to be seen if Gueye will also join.
