The Glasgow giants and PSV are set to clash in a two-legged playoff later this month for a place in the group stage of the Champions League.

Rangers will host PSV at Ibrox next Tuesday night before they visit the Phillips Stadion for the second leg in Eindhoven a week later.

Van Nistelrooy and Van Bronckhorst are close friends and the PSV coach stressed that he has very high regard for his fellow Dutchman.

The former striker insisted that Van Bronckhorst did a great job at Feyenoord and is now doing very fine work at Rangers as well.

Van Nistelrooy is also looking forward to taking his team to Ibrox where the Rangers fans can generate a fervent atmosphere.

“As a person, I put him very high”, the PSV coach was quoted as saying by Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur.

“And our families know each other very well.

“I have a lot of admiration for how Giovanni has done at Feyenoord and is now doing it at Rangers.

“The atmosphere at Ibrox is always great.”

PSV are likely to have the weekend off before the second leg as the Dutch FA are expected to postpone their game against Volendam.
