Union won the first leg of their Champions League qualifier 2-0 but Rangers roared back in the second leg at home.

They produced a 3-0 win to book a place in the playoff round and are now two games away from being in the group stage of the Champions League.

Foster admitted that it was a strange game as Union did show their attacking quality towards the end of the game.

However, he feels Rangers deserve credit for limiting Union to a few chances and getting the goals they needed.

Foster told BBC Sportsound: “It was strange, we saw Union’s quality coming forward in the final five minutes but not the previous 85.

“A lot of that is down to Rangers simply not letting them.”

The former Rangers star feels the Ibrox faithful played a big part in getting Rangers back into the tie and eventually winning it.

He was also impressed by the performance of summer signing Malik Tillman who scored the winner in the 78th minute.

“The fans played a huge part too.

“The Rangers players thrived tonight, none more so than Tillman.”
