The Hoops are set to kick off their Champions League campaign on Tuesday when they host reigning European champions Real Madrid at Parkhead under the floodlights.

Both the Scottish champions and Los Blancos are in sensational form in their respective domestic leagues and Ange Postecoglou’s men will be looking to give the Spanish giants a tough outing, although they are coming into the clash as the favourites.

Celtic legend Sutton has insisted that even if Real Madrid are the better side they will not be able to ease to a win at Parkhead as the hosts will at least outrun them on the pitch.

Sutton admitted that if Postecoglou gets the set up of his team wrong, they could be put to the sword by the Madrid giants, but stressed they could even register a famous win if he gets his tactics right.

“Real might be better than Celtic, but they can’t coast”, Sutton wrote in his Daily Record column.

“They can’t turn up and stroll around.

“Celtic will outrun them, I’m sure.

“If Postecoglou’s team gets it wrong, they could be open to being picked off at will.

“If they get it right, however, they can engineer a famous win.

“It’s high risk for ultimate reward.

“And it’s going to be an incredible watch.”

Celtic are currently flying high having thumped rivals Rangers 4-0 in their latest Scottish Premiership outing and will be determined to give their fans more reason to be happy with a strong showing against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
