Taylor marked his 100th appearance in a Hoops shirt with a goal in the 3-0 win away at Livingston that maintained the Celts’ advantage over second-placed Rangers at four points in the Scottish Premiership.
That was his second goal in as many league games after he came off the bench to score the winner at Hearts the weekend before last.
Rough paid tribute to the goal that Taylor scored at Livingston, saying there was not enough time for him to pick a spot before putting his foot through the ball.
Also, Rough pointed out that Taylor has knuckled down to beat away any competition for the left-back berth and put in a performance whenever he was called upon.
“That was a terrific strike”, Rough said on PLZ Soccer when quizzed about Taylor’s back-to-back goals in the Scottish Premiership.
“I know it came to him very quickly.
“I gave the goalkeeper the benefit of the doubt, he was unsighted, it came through three or four players but a wonderful strike.
“And any opposition, any player that they’ve brought in to take over from him, he’s battered them away.
“He’s put his head down and he’s turned in performances and that’s why anybody they brought in to take over from him isn’t getting a chance.”
Celtic next travel to Spain to take on defending European champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in what is for them a dead rubber in their final group stage game of the current Champions League campaign.
