The Magpies are preparing for the winter window and are looking at several established options in the market.

James Maddison has remained a target for Newcastle, but the club are also ready to continue their policy of snapping up young and emerging talents as well.

They already have a deal in place to sign Australian teenager Garang Kuol once the window opens and it has been claimed that the club are now looking at Vasco Da Gama midfielder Santos.

The club have been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old midfielder for a while with a view to potentially signing him.

And Newcastle are preparing to table an approach for the South American talent once the window opens in January.

The 18-year-old is highly-rated and has already made 37 senior appearances for the Brazilian club.

Newcastle have been tracking him and plans are now in place to table an offer for him this winter.

If a deal happens he would not be loaned out, but the club are aware that he would need time to settle down before he is ready to be part of the first team.
