Danny Cowley’s side began this season with an eight match unbeaten run but have won only one game in their last ten league fixtures.

Portsmouth stayed in eighth place in the League One table, two points behind the final playoff spot, after losing 2-0 to Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe Wanderers on Sunday at Adams Park.

Morrison, who was in the starting line-up against Wycombe on Sunday before being substituted in the 84th minute, feels that Pompey are lacking in confidence.

The 34-year-old emphasised that the team’s recent performances have fallen short of the standards they have set for themselves and added that Portsmouth have underachieved after a strong start to the season.

However, Morrison is confident that Pompey’s squad have enough quality to reach the playoffs this season.

“I think we’re a really good side but we lack a bit of confidence at the moment”, Morrison told The News.

“There’s definitely enough quality in the squad to be in the playoffs.

“I think we’ve under achieved if we don’t get that and we’ve set standards well enough at the beginning of the season to see what we’re about but that is still the aim and that should be the aim.

“We’re Portsmouth, that is the expectation so if you fall below that then rightly so fans are going to question that.”

Portsmouth will next take on 18th placed Accrington Stanley at the weekend and will be motivated to get back to winning ways.
