Giakoumakis is increasingly heading for the exit door at Celtic amid a lack of playing time handed to him by Bhoys boss Ange Postecoglou.

It had appeared that Giakoumakis would be heading to Japan with Urawa Red Diamonds, but there has now been a twist.

Inside Futbol understands that Giakoumakis is happy to move to Atlanta and has agreed a move with the American side.

However, there is no agreement in place with Celtic.

Atlanta still have work to do to present an offer that Celtic are happy to accept for Giakoumakis.

The striker has interest from a number of other clubs, but having given the green light to Atlanta, the Americans are now hoping to be able to reach an understanding with Celtic.

This season so far Giakoumakis has clocked 28 appearances for Celtic across all competitions, scoring nine goals in the process.
