Palmer, a product of Manchester City’s youth academy, broke into the first-team back in 2020 and has so far featured in 30 senior games, making four goal contributions.

17 of them have come this season, though Palmer is yet to find the back of the net for Pep Guardiola’s side so far.

His experience with the Manchester City first-team is helping clubs consider him as an option, though the Citizens are unwilling to budge.

Rangers are interested in taking Palmer on loan but the Sky Blues have knocked back the offer to take him on loan.

They are not the only side keen, with Brighton and Sheffield United also seeing their attempts falling on deaf ears.

Rangers are keen on improving their final third before Tuesday’s transfer deadline having failed in their attempt to sign Morgan Whittaker from Swansea.

Rangers have already signed Todd Cantwell from Norwich City and are set to sign Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege.
