The 36-year-old goalkeeper has been the undisputed number one at Tottenham over the last decade and has again been a pivotal part this season.

But the north London club will have to find a way to deal without their club captain between the sticks for the next two months.

He suffered ligament damage during Tottenham’s home win over Pep Guardiola’s side last weekend.

It has been claimed that Lloris will not have to go under the knife to sort out the injury but is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Tottenham medical team have determined it could be between six to eight weeks before he can get back into the team.

Fraser Forster will not face the spotlight of being the Tottenham goalkeeper for the next two months.

Spurs signed the 34-year-old last summer on a free transfer as an experienced back-up to Lloris.

He has featured in three cup games for Tottenham but has played just one league game, which was a 2-2 draw at Brentford in December.
