The Gunners’ season has ended on an disappointing note as the London outfit could not seal the Premier League title despite leading the standings for 248 days.

Their midfield ace Xhaka is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer amid the Swiss international being heavily linked with Leverkusen.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now in hot pursuit of Declan Rice and Ilkay Gundogan as the north London outfit are looking to refurbish their ranks ahead of next season’s campaign.

And according to German magazine Kicker, the Bundesliga side are confident of signing Xhaka but they will need to remain patient in order to secure the services of the Swiss midfielder.

It is also claimed that the Gunners will only sell Xhaka so long as they find a replacement for their midfield ace.

The 30-year-old midfielder played in 47 matches in all competitions for the London outfit this term while bagging seven goals and seven assists and he still has one year remaining on his contract with the Gunners.

Now, it remains to be seen whether Leverkusen can reap the sweet fruit of patience by striking a deal for their summer transfer target eventually.
