Erik ten Hag’s side finished third in the Premier League and won the EFL Cup but the season ended in a defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

The Dutchman has vowed to keep improving the team in the summer and take them to the next level next season.

Ten Hag is keen to sort out transfer business early in the window but they are unlikely to get everyone in time for pre-season.

But it has been claimed that plans are in place to at least sign two of their targets early in the window.

It would allow the two new players to join the team for pre-season and travel with them to the United States.

Mason Mount is expected to be one of the players who is likely to be signed early in the transfer window.

Personal terms are already in place between the Chelsea midfielder and Manchester United and he prefers a move to Old Trafford.

Talks have already been ongoing between the two clubs but they are still far apart on agreeing a fee.
