Red Bull Salzburg are trying to strike a deal for Crystal Palace target Alieu Njie, despite an offer which is short of Torino’s asking price for the player.
Njie is becoming a man in demand this summer, despite Torino’s stance that they do not want to sell him.
Crystal Palace recently put in an offer for Njie, on the basis of an initial loan, for a fee of €2m, plus with an obligation to then buy the player for a further €8m if certain conditions were met.

Torino wasted no time in knocking back the proposal and informed the Eagles that the asking price in the event Njie does go is €18m.
Palace now are facing major competition from Njie from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, who have put in a bid of €8m plus add-ons.
According to Italian journalist Luca Cerchione, Red Bull Salzburg are now in talks to with Torino to try to ‘close the gap’ and reach an agreement.
The Austrian club are wasting no time in pushing ahead to try to beat Crystal Palace to Njie.

Given Torino are not keen on losing the attacker, they are expected to drive a hard bargain and it remains to be seen if Danny Rohl’s side can reach an agreement.
Red Bull Salzburg tempted Rohl to take over earlier this summer, with the German picked by Jurgen Klopp and quitting the Rangers job for the post.
Red Bull Salzburg have started the new Austrian Bundesliga season, winning one and drawing one of their opening two games.
Now the onus is on Crystal Palace to increase their own efforts to sign Njie, otherwise they could soon find the attacker out of reach.
Whether Torino continue to stick to their €18m price tag or lower it remains to be seen, but so far no bid has been deemed convincing.
