Rangers have established initial contact for Sheffield United‘s young striker Ryan One as they actively explore a replacement for injured striker Youssef Chermiti.
On a day when Rangers suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 domestic campaign against Hibernian, Chermiti was forced off with an ACL injury.
The club confirmed the disastrous injury news on Tuesday, revealing that the Portuguese will be out for a significant period of time.

Rangers had only just knocked back a big bid for Chermiti and now face the prospect of having to replace the goals he would have scored until he returns.
With a Europa League qualifier match on the horizon and the domestic league campaign in full swing, Rangers need a striker to shoulder the burden and their search has led them to a familiar face in the shape of One.
One has been on Rangers’ radar for some time, including this summer, but talk a deal was close was dismissed in July.
Not a regular for Sheffield United, One showed promise on loan at Lincoln City in the second half of last season, finishing with five goals in 16 League One matches as the Imps earned promotion.

Then Lincoln City manager, Michael Skubala, hailed One for his pace and physicality, stressing that the Scot was a ‘great talent’.
Now they believe that One could potentially come in to help following Chermiti’s injury and, according to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, ‘Rangers make contact’ for the striker is the move from Ibrox.
The Scottish giants have held initial talks about potentially signing One this summer.
However, they are looking at a number of other options, with signing a new striker now having shot up the priority list at Ibrox.
Rangers are also on the verge of signing winger Couhaib Driouech from PSV Eindhoven, with the player insisting that he is looking forward to his Gers medical and joining the Ibrox side, having heard good stories about the club.
