Investment talks between Liverpool co-owner George Gillett and Saudi prince Faisal look to have cooled and are on hold. The prince’s investment vehicle, F6, stated that "nothing has happened" regarding the possibility of Faisal investing in the Premier League club.

The news comes despite Gillett travelling to Saudi Arabia last week for talks with Faisal, before which he reportedly received the blessing of fellow co-owner Tom Hicks to bring another investor on board.

It does however appear that significant progress was made on the topic of academies, which Faisal has been keen to set-up throughout the Middle East. With Liverpool under serious threat of losing their place in the top four this season, investment has never been more important.
