Cristiano Ronaldo has completed his much anticipated return to football with a 20-minute cameo in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Zurich yesterday – all but confirmation that the Portuguese maestro will be included in the coming El Clasico at the weekend. The influential attacker has been out for almost two months, and is relishing the opportunity to finally be out and running at defenders again.

"It’s good to be back, 55 days after my injury," Ronaldo told Sky Sports. "It was very disappointing, but this is football. My motivation is high and I want to be back again and as strong as I was before."

This comes as great news for Real manager Manuel Pellegrini, who is looking to extend his side’s lead at the top of the La Liga standings when they visit Barcelona at the weekend. With both teams managing wins in the Champions League in midweek, all eyes are now on the intriguing clash of Spanish football’s titans. With players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, and Raul all possibilities to be involved, the weekend’s match at the Nou Camp will be of interest to not just the two sides respective supporters, but for football fans all over the world.
